This is one of my biggest projects; an awareness campaign based around loneliness.
Loneliness is a growing issue which can have an effect on anyone from any background. Conducted research showed that the group mainly effected by loneliness and admitted to suffering from it is people between the ages of 17-24, quite a young age; with the main gender effected being male. With social media being the primary target for blame, especially for this age group, it could in fact be the answer. The Hey Campaign aims to raise awareness of loneliness being a severe issue, and give people the knowledge on how it can be fought. Just sending your friend a simple message on social media, even as simple as “hey” , can show that they are cared for and have a friend to confide in. Not only does The Hey Campaign also focuses on the issues of lonliness experienced by men, and how it seems to be the social normality that men shouldn’t have these problems. It is okay for men to admit to suffering from lonliness, and should be encouraged to seek help from friends, family, and professionals if necessary.
