As well as our usually university work, we also took part in some workshops and additional learning lessons which would help us to improve our learning. One of the workshops we had was a creative thinking workshop, where we were given a word, and had to use that word to solve four different problems. They were making a bank more interesting, helping solve the graffiti issue, making a newspaper and an awareness campaign based around safer driving. My word I received was Blue Jay, and at first I was hesitant, as I had no idea how to apply that word to these scenarios. However, after sitting down and actually thinking about it, I was able to generate some ideas. Here is what I came up with for each scenario.
Overall, I am glad we did this workshop as it definitely helped me to understand grapht design in a different way. The main lesson I learnt from this was to not give up as easily on a project. At the start of this one I had no idea what to do, but after a while I was able to produce work that matched the criteria and I was happy with. This definitely have me confidence for going out there and working with clients in my future, as they will give me the things I need to work with, rather than let me be as controlling over the work as I have been during my time in uni. The workshop showed me that although I may have to follow certain rules for projects, I can still be creative.
Another part of the additional learning we were taught was a method called SCAMPER.
It stands for:
It stands for:
Substitute
Combine
Adapt
Modify
Put to another use
Eliminate
Reverse

This was another quick exercise we had to give us another view on our work, and what it involved was applying each of these words to our work, and it would give us another view on our work. It was an interesting concept, and one I used a few times during my studies.
